A little bit about me…

HI ALL!!!

I’m Cat, aka Crafty Cat or Arts & Crafts MacGyver (yep, I gave myself those titles), a creative mind fuelled by colour, chaos, and a deep love for quirky, kitsch accessories and joyfully weird jewellery. Also, the humble founder of Hue Are Bright.

I’m a big believer that if there’s a will, there’s a craft that can fix just about anything.

I’m a problem-solver, a visual storyteller, and a lifelong collector of scraps, sparkles, gingham, and neon. My hands are always busy, and my brain? Constantly buzzing with ideas (often too many to keep up with). Some of those ideas live in boxes for decades and never actually happen… but they happened in my head, so they totally count.

This whole thing started when I was a teen, frustrated that the stuff I imagined didn’t exist, or at least not where I lived, so I made it myself.
Not every project was a masterpiece (I’ve set a pan on fire melting jelly wax and glued glitter to my face with nail polish and super glue — 0/10, do not recommend), but every mess taught me something important:
Keep going. There’s always another way.

I always knew I was different. Everyone else kind of knew too. But I didn’t really understand why, until much later in life.
Turns out: I’m autistic. Brilliantly, beautifully wired a little differently.
I spent years masking to fit in, especially in the professional world, trying to be “respectable,” “normal,” whatever that means. But not anymore. These days I show up as fully myself… and no one’s stopping me.

Creativity has always been my anchor, my way to feel good, express big feelings, find calm, and sprinkle a bit of magic into everyday life.

Over the years, I’ve explored jewellery design, event styling, visual merchandising, creative workshops, and community-based programming, blending all those experiences into a playful, people-centred practice that celebrates curiosity, colour, and imagination in all its messy, magnificent forms.

I spent over a decade as a visual merchandising manager, crafting stories through objects, textures, and space. Now I use those skills in all sorts of ways, from hands-on creative services and bespoke jewellery, workshops to community projects, events, and spaces that make life brighter, sillier, and more fun for everyone involved.

I’m still learning, growing, and making things up as I go but now I get to do it out loud, with others. Join me on the journey. Let’s make something bright.

XOXO, Cat <3
